Curated by Nottingham based dance artist Gareth Woodward and supported by Inspire Arts, Nottingham Lakeside Arts and Dance4, Xzibit provides a unique opportunity for young people to create and present their own choreography.
Xzibit is an intensive creative choreography programme for young people aged between 13 – 19. Each young choreographer creates thier own work making all decisions, selecting dancers, lighting, costume, sound and movement content while being mentored by high profiled professional dancers and choreographers and supported throughout by programme leaders Gareth and Jasmine.
In addition to the existing Nottinghamshire programme, there is now opportunity for young people in the surrounding regions to benefit from this creative choregraphic opportunity. Gareth has now extended the Xzibit Young Creative programme to cover intensives in Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
The collection of works created is curated into a series of ‘Xzibits’ which are performed in an evening of high quality youth dance work, created and performed by the young people involved at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Sunday 24 March 2019.
