Hannah Buckley is a dancer and choreographer based in the north of England. Her practice is process driven often with long, spacious processes. Generally, she works on multiple projects that are distinct yet somehow interconnected. She is interested in the tension and skill of crafting art works whilst simultaneously letting things emerge
Her work, The Mountain and Other Tales of She Transformed will be performed here at iC4C as a sneak peek version of the solo. It is a woman performing. Inspired by mountains, fairytales and a 1970s body work book for women thoughts and feelings around the ‘female command of space’ are transfigured into movement, sound and imagery.
As part of her residency Hannah will be running 3 workshops. One for female/non binary people of all ages and two for female / non binary teenagers aged 16 – 19. All workshops will explore the themes of the solo and ‘doing less’ as a form of resistance and female empowerment.
Hannah is looking for people who;
– are interested in exploring the themes of the work through movement, creative tasks and discussion
– want to explore new ways of being and moving in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment
– are interested in spending time without technology and seeing how this makes them feel
No movement or dance experience is necessary to take part in the workshops. Travel expenses can be paid (for local travel) and refreshments will be provided.
