Charles Linehan pits the conceptual and historically based My Mother’s Tears against the rigorous and inventive choreography of A Quarter Plus Green, with an original and dominant lighting installation and powerful music score to create an immersive and accessible evening.
My Mother’s Tears mimes the personal history of William Trevitt and Michael Nunn’s (Ballet Boyz) performing classical ballet mime from The Royal Ballet repertoire with unpredictable consequences. Drawing on their repertoire, Linehan plays language and context to create a work that is both poignant and irreverent.
In A Quarter Plus Green, ideas of transformation are applied to movement, light and sound in a unique new setting at Brighton Dome Corn Exchange. With enigmatic simplicity and layers of detail, six stunning performers are slowly submerged in an escalating wall of sound and distilled environments are undone by the overlapping of choreographic episodes.
