Horizon – Performance created in England is a vibrant performance showcase designed to celebrate visionary artists and cultural leaders, currently making work in England.

Horizon is a performing arts showcase for England at the Edinburgh Festivals, using a new approach to build deep and sustainable collaborations, celebrating visionary artists and cultural leaders, with a view to significantly rejuvenate the existing ecology of the live performance sectors across the UK.

Horizon is delivered by a consortium made of Battersea Arts Centre, FABRIC (Dance4), Fierce Festival, GIFT, MAYK and Transform. Commissioned by Arts Council England

Born out of a new approach to build deep and sustainable collaborations, the pilot year delivered an online exploratory programme of presentations and residencies that connected new work and ideas with international partners during the Edinburgh festivals in August 2021.

Taking on board the learnings from our 2021 pilot year, the 2022 and 2023 Horizon showcases will be curated via a series of distinct approaches, responsive to the pandemic context we continue to live through. It will be a key part of the Edinburgh Festivals for one week during August 2022 & 2023, featuring live tour-ready performance works and digital wraparound activities.
