We would like to continue to celebrate the successful achievements of the Nottingham Young Creative Awards dance category winners for 2019. Nottingham Young Creative Awards (YCA) set out to highlight the brilliant artistic work produced by young people across the city. Two of last years’ dance category winners, Charlotte Hoyle and Lucy Willet, were given the opportunity to be part of a film produced Dance4 to support youth dance leaders and teachers submitting youth dance work to U.Dance in the East Midlands.
Charlotte Hoyle won the dance category for 16-19 year olds for her unique choreography and inventive movement vocabulary in her piece of work All Or Nothing, which explores the themes of gambling, the thrills of winning and the lows of losing. As a prize, Charlotte received funding towards her trip with Next Door Dance Youth Company’s work which was performed at Southbank Centre, London as part of U.Dance 2019.
Lucy Willet won the dance category for 19-24 year olds for her performance in the piece of work called No Stone Left Unturned at Lakeside Arts. Lucy was given the YCA award for showing great confidence, ownership and performance skills on stage. For her prize, Lucy received a number of tickets to attend various shows at Lakeside Arts with her family.
Both dancers were featured recently in our U.Dance Good Practice Guide video which gives groups tips and hints for creating their U.Dance piece. The video also features other young dancers on Dance4’s Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) programme. Watch the film by clicking on the highlighted link above.
