Dance artist, Kimberley Harvey recently took up a residency at Dance4 to work on her project Inky Matter. As part of this residency, Kimberley delivered two workshops; a family workshop and an early years’ workshop as well as presenting a performance of Inky Matter at Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester.
Both workshops were well received and children and their families were given the opportunity to explore the Inky Matter themes and be inspired to create movement based upon their own writing, mark making and drawing.
One parent from the early years’ workshop reflected on their experience,
‘Thank you Kimberley. We had a fab time exploring and having fun at Dance4 – we loved being animals, moving and learning in a wonderfully inclusive environment.’
Kimberley’s performance of Inky Matter at Attenborough Arts centre was also well received, the audience were invited to see the body as an unsent letter, where pen met paper and skin and where words were lost, forgotten or overwritten.
Lovely, thoughtful, engaging performance. Makes me want to get out my fountain pen and start writing letters on paper again. Thank you – Audience member
It was a pleasure to have Kimberly at iC4C and we hope to see her return in the future.
