internationale tanzmesse, the world’s largest showcase of contemporary dance, is back and will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany from Wednesday 31 August to Saturday 3 September 2022.

The showcase is under new leadership of Co-Directors Katharina Kucher & Isa Köhler, working alongside four new Associate Curators Julia Asperska, Dan Daw, Quito Tembe and Natacha Melo.

The next edition of Tanzmesse focuses primarily on networking and the exchange of knowledge. Three sections set the frame of international tanzmesse nrw: Agora (Exhibition space), Talk & Connect, and the Performance Programme to facilitate knowledge transfer and discussions among dance professionals. As part of Dance4’s continued international showcasing work, and alongside partners, The Work Room Scotland & National Dance Company of Wales, we will co-ordinate UK presence at internationale tanzmesse nrw 2022.

Artists and companies from across the UK can submit proposals to present their work. Submissions must be made through a registered Agora exhibition space, if you do not want to have your own space you can register through Dance from England, Dance from Scotland or Dance from Wales depending on where you are based.

If you are an artist or company based in England and would like to submit a proposal to the Tanzmesse performance programme through Dance from England, please email [email protected] and provide:

– Your name
– Email address (this must be the one you wish to register with Tanzmesse)
– Organisation name

You will then receive an invitation to submit a Performance Programme proposal on behalf of the Dance from England Agora exhibition space at the cost of 25 Euros plus 7% VAT.

Please note that internationale tanzmesse do not pay any fees or expenses to artists or companies who present in the showcase. Dance from England are unable to provide financial support, and so you must be confident that you can cover these costs directly should you be successful.

Please see the Tanzmesse 2022 Information Guide for full details about applying including support available for successful proposals. Dance4 has no say in the proposal process, and acts only as exhibition space host for England.
