Live directed improvisation. Combining idiocy with skill, anarchy with meaning and costumes with music, five guests of high calibre and low pay attempt the impossible and quite probably fail.

Initially performed last year at Juncture Festival in Leeds as a tribute to the late, great Nigel Charnock whose piece Stupid Men irritated and annoyed most audiences who saw it; Stupid Women hopes to achieve something similar but hopes to fail.

Wendy’s return to Nottdance brings a new idea of a performance developing in front of your eyes exposing the impossibility of repitition and the madness of creation.

‘It is works of this caliber that always intrigue me; theatre and performance is meant to be a celebration of the things we experience in life, but put together in an eloquent manner, and presented in a format that a large audience that can witness and share. This is exactly what Stupid Women does. Whilst I don’t agree with the title, that is entirely the point.’
– Tammy Facey. Weekend Notes, Leeds.

Director of Action: Wendy Houstoun. Performers: Jo Fong, Annie Hanauer, TC Howard, Victoria Malin and Sophie Unwin. Lighting Design: Chris Copland. With additional found sound, image and writing.

Stupid Women is supported by Arts Council England, Dance 4, all the performers and continues to be in debt to Nigel Charnock. Wendy Houstoun management : Joule Arts and Events.

This piece was perfomed as part of Nottdance 2015.
