Join Katye Coe for her monthly open class at iC4C exploring some of her current interests in the potential of dancing and what happens when we move together. Through a series of body-based tasks, dance instructions and exercises, this inclusive session will draw attention to what movement looks and feels like, instead of learning steps.
Participants are encouraged to make their own choices as to how they can take part during the class, from dancing through to active watching and listening, making it suitable for all with an interest in dance, including professionals. This is an opportunity for moving, dancing together and talking too.
“When I dance I work to follow or attend to movement in ways that make room for something to arrive, perhaps even to become visible. That might be a choreographer’s idea or questions, or maybe simply a curiosity to go somewhere in my physical self that feels juicy or pleasurable. I am giving and getting attention simultaneously. It’s not mine, these things that are being revealed or birthed if you like, I’m not the author, I’m a worker that opens the door to them and sets agendas aside to help the idea through the door and into the room.”
