The Nottingham 2015 CPISRA World Games Opening Ceremony will host a spectacular evening of performances from professionals, amateurs and community members.
Dance4 and City Arts are thrilled to have been commissioned by Cerebral Palsy Sport, the local organising committee for the World Games, and Nottingham City Council to produce the Opening Ceremony.
Directed by acclaimed actor/director Jamie Beddard, who has cerebral palsy, the opening ceremony will be themed around ‘Aspirations’. It will focus on the athletes’ hopes for the competition, their expectations for the Games and the hard work they have invested into training for the event. Jamie Beddard directed the show Breathe at the centrepiece of the opening of the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition.
Carnival Queens from East Midlands’ carnival troupes will lead the procession of competitors from around the world. Dance4 is working with professional dancer Adele Wragg to produce a specially choreographed dance piece for the event
The Nottingham 2015 CPISRA (Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association) World Games will be held in Nottingham from 6 – 16 August, with most activities and events taking place at the Harvey Hadden Sports Complex.
