OPEN DOORS: EARLY CAREER ARTIST RESIDENCY BURSARIES

Dance4 provides inspirational artistic experiences for artists through exploration of new territories in dance and choreographic practices.

The early stages of an artist’s career can be the most challenging period, a time when an artist seeks to establish a reputation for their work and attract support from the sector. Dance4 recognises that emerging dance artists need to demonstrate professional experience as well as having practical skills whilst trying to establish themselves as a new artist.

OPEN DOORS is a paid residency opportunity funded through The Idlewild Trust, for early career dance artists from the East Midlands to explore their practice in a nurturing environment at International Centre for Choreography (iC4C). A time to allow space for artistic practice development and receive broader management knowledge.

Successful applicants will receive:
Full access to a studio at Dance4’s iC4C between Monday 22 – Sunday 28 October
Facilitated breakfasts with Dance4 Team members, to share knowledge and expertise and help develop broader project management skills
The opportunity to lead and take part in open Professional Class each morning to develop practice
The opportunity to share and discuss your ideas and practice with the other selected artists
An Improvisation Masterclass with Sally Doughty, Associate Professor Dance and Head of Dance at Montfort University, and established Choreographer, Friday 26 October
The opportunity to share and discuss your work to an invited audience, with a facilitated Q&A session, alongside other successful applicants, Sunday 28 October

Dance4 has 3 bursaries to offer, each up to a maximum of £1250

Eligible applicants must:
be a dance artist currently living in the East Midlands
