Events/Performances/Sneak Peek
Dan Daw will be joining us in residence for january 2020 in which he will be developing new work The Dan Daw Show. The Dan Daw Show is the result of Dan’s realisation that often he is an inspiration to people simply because he gets out of bed in the morning. To him, being an inspiration to people simply because he gets out of bed in the morning makes him feel a loss of power. As part of his residency Dan Daw will invite Mark Maughan to join him in hosting an In Conversation about POWER. We’re also joined by Neon Dance who be in residence for 3 days in January. Artistic Director of Neon Dance Adrienne Hart will invite Jonathan Hale in hosting a talk around new work Prehension Blooms.

We are working with CONTINUOUS and Nottingham Contemporary in bringing Spirit Compass to Nottingham which will be led by Lucy Suggate. A work which acts as an antidote to over-complicated, never-ending bureaucracy, in which movement itself offers relief from the sedentary environments and technologies that are submerging us. Spirit Compass will be in Nottingham for the first weekend in February and includes a workshop and talk. We’ll also be working with Lakeside Arts in bringing Loom to Nottingham as they present their work Propellor. This iteration of Propellor includes a collaboration with CAT alumni and artist Heather Birley.

Children and Young People

The start of 2020 will be the start of our East Midland U.Dance 2020 platforms. All youth dance groups selected will be performing at one of the 5 county platforms which are Mass Movement, N.Dance, True Motion, Interface and Episodes between January to March. Two groups from each platform will be selected to go on to the national U.Dance 2020 platform which takes place in Glasgow this year. Good luck to all groups participating.

Our Little Movers sessions will continue in the new year led by Oksana Tyminska for 0-5 year olds and their adults. These sessions take place twice a month on Fridays with drinks and refreshments made available after the session. We will also have our CAT Open taster sessions across Nottingham and Derby which allow for young people interested in dance to have a taster CAT workshop. Ideal for those looking to explore a career in dance.
