Lola Maury is a French London & Lyon-based female choreographer and researcher.
Concerting intimate and sensory experiences, she questions the modes of attention of the spectator, exploring possibilities to make them alert, ‘tuned in’ to their senses and often leading them towards an introspective stand.
Lola Maury is the artist in residence at the CND Lyon for the 20-21 season. She is a PhD student, since September 2020, at C-DaRE (Coventry University) and in partnership with DanceXchange (Birmingham), exploring enhanced states of sensorial awareness from the spectator.
She leads with fellow choreographer Benjamin Coyle, the ‘Cellules D’essai’—a series of collective and interdisciplinary platforms for experimentation and sharing of practices. She is part of the directing committee of Le Croiseur, which supports emerging dance artists in Lyon.
Lola grew up in Paris and Madrid before moving to London in 2005 where she trained at London Contemporary Dance School (BA) and Central School of Speech and Drama with an MA in Performance Practices and Research.
