We have long been active in the field of research for dance, and we continuously seek to uncover unknowns and answer questions that inform present and future practices of artists and the art form. Housed in iC4C we ambitiously seek to establish Dance4 as an anchor point for choreographic research in the UK, developing outcomes that will inform the field for the benefit of makers, pedagogues, learners and audiences.

We support artists undertaking long-term choreographic practice research to support realisation and dissemination. Our current Research Artists include Matthias Sperling, The Choreographic Lab and Katye Coe.

Through Research Residencies we create a safe environment for dance artists to explore new choreographic ideas focused on open research questions and explorations. We also work within formal research contexts in the UK and beyond to create and share new knowledge through Research Projects.
