Young Choreographers Programme
Launched in 2013, Xzibit, curated by Gareth Woodward, is a choreographic programme that aims to enhance young people’s skills and knowledge of choreography and gives them the opportunity to present their own work in a professional environment.

Xzibit was developed in partnership with County Youth Arts in 2013.  With added support from wider partnerships with Dance4, One Nottingham, Lakeside Arts Centre and Youth Dance England Xzibit will reach its full potential in 2014.

We are thrilled to announce that Youth Dance England has also selected Xzibit to be one of four regional projects that will become a part of the YDE Young Creatives programme for 2014.

This exciting opportunity means that 19 young people aged 11-18 from the East Midlands have been successfully selected to be part of the Xzibit programme and are experiencing workshop opportunities to learn about choreography with experts, drawing upon different dance styles, new technology, site specific and theatrical elements to create exciting new choreographic works.

Xzibit is running from January to March 2014. Throughout this period 12 specially selected young people will be mentored by local artists Gareth Woodward, Jasmine Eccles & Jennifer Manderson whilst also receiving one off intensive workshops from top professional choreographers. This will result in the young people producing new work to be shown at the Lakeside Arts Centre, in Nottingham, on 29th March 2014. To book tickets click here.

Eight young people from Xzibit will be selected to work with other young choreographers from the four regions and come together at The Royal Ballet School in London, next Easter, where they will be part of a residential programme at the iconic White Lodge building in Richmond Park. The young people will then go on to share their work on the stage of the Clore Studio Theatre in the prestigious Royal Opera House.
