U.DANCE ENSEMBLE

The U.Dance Ensemble is the first youth dance company of its kind with young dancers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland between the ages of 16 and 21 years.

The Ensemble dancers have now been selected and this new company will be directed by the internationally-acclaimed choreographer Hofesh Shechter.

The U.Dance Ensemble will meet during three main residential rehearsal periods between January and July 2012 during which the U.Dance Ensemble will be led by Hofesh in the creation of a new dance piece. This piece of between 12 and 20 minutes in duration will form a key highlight of the U.Dance 2012 festival at Southbank Centre in London on Friday 13th July.

The new piece will be performed alongside selected pieces by dance groups from across the UK. The Ensemble will also perform their piece on Sunday 15th July in the Royal Festival Hall and subsequent tour dates are being planned in August for performances in Scotland and Wales.
