Open Doors for Graduates
Monday 12 May 10.00am-4.00pm

We are holding another of our successful open doors events. This one is tailored to the needs of graduates. The day will start with class taught by Gabriele Reuter, a former student from De Montfort now an emerging choreographer working in Germany, London and Nottingham, she will go on to share her experiences with you. You can also take advantage of surgeries with Dance4 staff, meet with other graduates and pick up lots of support material to help you on your way.

Schedule of the day

 10.15am Arrival

10.30-12.00am Contemporary technique class
Led by independent dance artist Gabriele Reuter
(Limited places available)

 12.15-1.00pm Delivering dance in education & community contexts
Led by Vanessa McGuire (Dance4 learning manager), Sarah Shead (Dance4 CPD Coordinator)
and Fiona Sherwood, Kirsten Jeavons and Laura Savage (Dance4Graduate Ambassadors)

This session will start by introducing safe practice, we will then move on to work together on problem solving different scenarios
 that you may come across whilst delivering dance in education and community contexts.
This is your opportunity to let out any fears you may have about delivering and learn how to deal with these professionally.


 1.00-1.45pm Lunch
This is your chance to chat to invited independent dance artists, organisations and the Dance4 team over a light lunch.

 1.45-2.00pm Graduate Opportunities
Sarah Shead (Dance4 CPD Coordinator) and Caroline Moss (Northants Dance, Dance development manager)

 A short presentation of other opportunities you can get involved in

2.00-2.30 Working regionally, nationally and internationally. How to survive!!!
An informal discussion with Dance4 associate artist and ex-Shobana Jeyasingh dancer Shane Shambhu and Independent Dance Artist Gabriele Reuter.
 Both of these artists graduated in the East Midlands and now work nationally. They will share with you how they survive in the industry and how to maintain a healthy work life balance.  
There will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions and source the answers you need in order to support your career.

 
 2.30-3.00pm Personal and artistic statements
Tim Tubbs, an independent dance manager, producer and consultant, is Director of UK Foundation for Dance which manages a range of artists, produces dance productions for touring, runs Marylebone Dance Studio and is active in the training and support of dance managers.

 Tim Tubbs and Sarah Shead will support you to think and write a short
statement which will help you to promote yourself and your work.

 
 3.15-4.15pm CV Surgery
Facilitated by Tim Tubbs and Sarah Shead

Please bring along your CV as this will be your opportunity to share it with some of the most renowned dance specialists.
We will share hints, tips and pointers on what makes a good CV as well as give you the opportunity to share your CV with other graduates.


 4.15-5.00pm Professional Development Planning
Here we will be encouraging you to reflect on the skills you have gained from education and begin to think about what you want to do and how you can get there.  
All the facilitators will be around to help support you think about your future and signpost you to resources, organisations and dance specialists that may be able to assist and support you in achieving your career goals.

Graduate Programme 

We are pleased to announce that we have now taken on Fiona Sherwood, Kirsten Jeavons and Laura Savage as our graduate ambassadors. As well taking part in various Dance4 projects, our ambassadors will be working with us to create a steering group that will help inform the development of a graduate programme If you are a recent graduate and would like to contribute to the process please email
