Shane Shambhu

“I’m a British-Indian dancer, actor and choreographer based in the East Midlands. I have worked on individual projects with an array of artists, as well as performing with numerous companies including: Shobana Jeyasingh and Complicité. I was very proud to be awarded the Bonnie Bird Choreography Award in 2006.

I create work using theatre and an individual contemporary style of Bharatanatyam resulting in a unique, physically and emotionally engaging Dance Theatre style. In my time as Associate Artist at Dance4 I hope that I can develop support from schools, colleges, community venues and other professional artists in the region by raising awareness of the British-Asian identity, of my work. I am also aiming to increase the profile of my work, with the aspiration of my choreographic work being seen nationally and internationally.”
