Hancock & Kelly Live - Australian Residency (Nov 2007)
Live artists Richard Hancock and Traci Kelly (UK) undertook a 2 week residency at The Drill in Sydney, Australia. The residency formed the second part of an International exchange programme between Dance4 (UK) and Critical Path (AUS), which began in 2006 with a residency at Dance4 studio by Sydney-based choreographer Martin del Amo.
Hancock & Kelly's residency saw them working with five artists
selected from the New South Wales area; George Khut, Deborah Pollard,
Nalina Wait, Julie Vulcan, and Victoria Hunt. This diverse array of practitioners from disciplines of visual art, live art, dance, and theatre, undertook practical research into questions surrounding issues of memory, heritage, and transference.
Through varied methodologies including individual encounters, collective journeys, and solo responses, the participants unearthed an archive of living memories, asking fundamental questions about the nature of memory and its construction within and throughout the body.
Martin del Amo (Oct 06)
The first part of this programme, with Sydney based artist, Martin del Amo, took place in October 2006. Martin was hosted by Hancock and Kelly and spent 3 weeks in the Dance4 studio, with a final sharing of some of his research.
