Jenny Beyer
Jenny Beyer studied at the Hamburg Ballet School and the Rotterdam Dance Academy. She has performed in works of choreographers Jaakko Toivonen/Company Koorts, Antje Pfundtner and others. Since 2003 she has been producing and performing regularly her own work including collaborative projects with the sound artist Epueblodechina and composer Jetzmann. In 2005 she devised the duet Konkubinat for Dansateliers Rotterdam and Home Tapes in 2006. In 2006 she received funding from danceWEB in Vienna. Invited as choreographer in residence at K3- Zentrum for Choreographie/ Tanzplan Hamburg in 2007 she developed her recent work Tableau Doubl and the solo TanzTanz. She is currently working with visual artist Tillmann Terbuyken on a collaborative performance. Jenny Beyer is a member of Sweet and Tender Collaborations.
Jenny is currently in collaboration with Swiss choreographer Chris Leuenberger, producing Uniek. Uniek takes a close look at the solo and an even closer one at the soloist behind.
Inspired by ballet competitions such as the “Prix de Lausanne”, Chris and Jenny create solo moments, entrances and exits for each other. Jenny uses Chris to talk about virtuosity, beauty and elegance. Chris uses Jenny to confront his gender confusion. As classical forms and codes melt into their very own dance, the soloists unveil their unique and manifold talents. Tiptoeing between the fear of failure and the pleasure to seduce, they open a space for friction, comparison and doubling.
