Goat Island

Professional workshop

Bonington Gallery
£20.00 / £15.00 Conc
.

Goat Island 's performance work is a series of responses: to the exercises we give ourselves, to our surroundings, to the events of the world, but mostly, to each other. Consequently, the idea of response has become very important to the culture of Goat Island 's teaching. This practice destabilizes the boundaries between critical and creative modes in order to enrich them both.

The Goat Island workshop aims to provide an opportunity for artists to work and study together in a structured, creative environment. Participants are invited from the visual arts, live and performance art, music, dance, and theatre. The emphasis of the workshop is on the development and encouragement of new theory and practice in art/performance.

Gisèle Vienne: a learning & interpretation programme

We are planning a series of workshops with several universities around the country, to engage creatively with the process of French artist Gisèle Vienne and the collaborators behind Kindertotenlieder , the piece presented at nottdance07. This programme of workshops will take place after the festival and aims to give interpretative and creative tools to young artists studying at university level, working in the areas of visual art, performance, scenography and choreography. Dance4 is interested in engaging young makers with the ideas, processes and conceptual journeys of artists that push boundaries and challenge our perceptions. This programme will be documented and findings/outcomes will be shared with you via our website after nottdance07.
