The first joint showing of pieces by Leicester-based Sally Doughty and New Zealander Simon Ellis, resulting from their work with leading American dance artist Deborah Hay.
Through the annual Solo Performance Commissioning Project 2011 the two artists were coached by Hay during an 11-day residency. They then engaged in daily solo practice for three months to develop their indivual interpretations of her original choreography.
Sally's performance work in strongly informed by improvisational practices. She is a principal lecturer at De Montfort University. Simon who is a reader at Roehampton University, created work for Nottdance Festival 2011 (Leaving). He is interested in memory, improvisation and how audiences experience performance.
