Big Dance 2012
They will take place in all sorts of locations and in all dance styles, which will be open to absolutely anyone. Aiming to involve five million people, Big Dance in the East Midlands is being led by Nottingham’s Dance4 with a group of organisations working together as the Big Dance Hub partnership – East Midlands.
Events will include classes, workshops, courses, performances, flashmobs, have-a-go days, competitions, world record attempts, dancing in unusual spaces – shops, parks, galleries, shopping centres and dancing in schools.

The Big Dance 2012 Handbook is the ultimate guide to what’s happening and how to get involved. It’s full of information about Big Dance; what it is, why it’s happening, how you can be part of it and how to create successful new Big Dance events. It also provides links to our Big Dance hubs across the UK to connect anyone to organisations in local areas who are planning Big Dance events.
The Big Dance Hub partnership East Midlands is one of eight such regional hubs working across England and includes Arts NK, Regional Coordinator for the Children and Young People’s Legacy from the 2012 Games, Dance4, Déda, Embrace Arts, Igniting Ambition– Cultural Olympiad East Midlands, Lakeside Arts Centre, Retina Dance Company, Royal and Derngate, The Core at Corby and The Mighty Creatives.
The partnership are planning a spectacular programme of dance to engage people in extraordinary ways and in extraordinary places from town centres to football stadiums with hundreds of dance activities and dance styles for all ages and all types of people
